Define global warming?

Lavelle Viveiros: Big question, but simple enough. Global warming is the process by which the ozone layer is destroyed by various greenhouse gases. As taht layer is destroyed, more ultraviolet rays from the sun penetrate down to the Earth's surface. This causes glaciers to melt, increasing the level of water sources around the globe. This also increases the instances of skin cancer, as people are affected by these rays.

Darren Heling: Global warming is the belief that human beings are having a direct impact on the average temperatures on Earth. A very similar theory was around in the 1970's except it was global cooling, the belief that the world was cooling off and going into another ice-age. What it all amounts up to is people love to freak out over things they have little or no control over.

Maye Delk: Global warming is the increase to the average of Earth temperatures. It affects humans today in society in various ways. Some are that the formation of tr! opical storms are more likely. Another are Polar ice caps melt, which mean a higher sea level.

Willis Liburd: Global Warming is the theory that states the earth is heating up do to the burning of fossil fuels and green house gasses. Its basically the greenhouse effect gone wrong! And it affects us as humans b/c if the earth got too hot we wouldn't survive and then theres a lot of crap about the glaciers melting and drowning some places like Florida and New York.Honestly, the Earth goes through phases, we're just in one now. And really if you think about it the Earth has been heating up since the last ice age. Sure the extra fossil fuels dont help and we can cut back and some of it is man's fault...but not all of it. I think its natural...Show more

Marti Declue: global warming is the gradual rise in earth's surface and atmospheric temp. it is causing the icecaps to melt, more violent weather in the tropics. scientists say it is caused by greenhouse gases such as au! to exhaust

Pam Rampadarat: There is no scientific defini! tion of "global warming" as it relates to humans. The earth's history is highly variable over time in relation to the atmospheric temperature. Recently, liberal humans and scientists in search of grant money started a media panic over a slight increase of temperature over the past few decades and have tried to convince everyone that the sky is falling and that this "global warming" is all caused by humans. Some of it probably is but we are on the end of a long, 10,000 year warming period from the end of the last ice age. There are 17 known ice ages just in the past 1.8 million years of earth history that geologists call the "Pleistocene"....Show more
