Nikita Schroepfer: Yep. A secured card is no different from one that is unsecured as far as credit scoring is concerned. Pay it on time and you will build good credit. They will also give the money back to you eventually. I got mind back within 6 months from B of A. Hope that answers your question.
Karl Samiec: I work at a credit card company where I have to manually approve or deny people for credit everyday, and I agree with Misty that a secured credit card works just like a regular credit card, but it can help your score even more if you add to the deposit to boost the credit line because having a higher limit creates a cushion between the total debt that's owed and the available credit you have. The best way to raise your score would be by making small purchases ($20/mont! h max), pay it off on time every month and add to the deposit to increase the limit. This way, you're showing payment activity, but not carrying a large balance, and you're increasing the credit line.Credit cards are considered revolving credit which is one of 2 types of credit. Installment credit such as furniture, appliance, car, boat, motorcycle, student loans, and mortgages are examples of this. Hopefully the answers on here helpGood luck, and thanks for reading!...Show more
