Frank Gazaway: Of course a judgment will discourage others from renting to you even if you pay it off. The fact that you have a judgment means your previous landlord had to sue you. Most landlords won't rent to you because they don't want to risk having to take you to court.
Giovanni Malool: Probably any large corporate owned type of apartments you may run into problems You would either have to find a smaller complex or home with a private owner who may give you a 2nd chance. The thing is, you were not evicted, you had a job move and had to go. Not many people have the few hundred or thousand to buy out their lease. I would be up front with any complex or owner who does credit checks. Tell them you had to move and with the expense of moving etc, you couldn't pay before the landlord took things to court. You could also offer 3 to 6 mos (or more) rent up front to show you aren't a flake.But, yes, you may run into some who will look at you as a risk.
