Blair Abdi: You need to make sure to strip all of the color off first. You may need more than one box of the color stripper - it helps if you cram all your hair into a shower cap or something while the time elapses. If the stuff gets too dry, it stops working right. After you've stripped the color off, It should be a light orangish yellow color. If it's too dark, you need to also bleach it.*Then* the red should take. If your hair shows color darker than it should be, try a lighter shade of red first. You can always make it darker later if you want :-)...Show more
Geraldo Mccalla: Ok, first of all, GET A PROFESSIONAL TO DO IT!!!! That is sooo important. I've seen soooo many hair mess-ups cuz ppl do it by themselves. I'm pretty sure it will work, go to ur hairstylist and get him/her to do it - if a pro does it, it won't go wrong!!!
Bob Nakamoto: Black hair will always turn orange, that is what is hiding beneath. In order to go blonde, you have to keep bleaching ! beyond orange. When you get the orange to a yellow to pale yellow stage, then remove the bleach and tone the "yellow" with a violet based toner and you will have blonde hair, not yellow, not orange.Caution: This is very damaging to take your hair from black to blonde. If you do it at home and leave the bleach on too long, you risk breaking/melting your hair off.I highly recommend that you see a hairdresser, as this is a very delicate process on such dark hair....Show more
Matt Tiry: go a tint darker...dont be too dramatic.trust me you will regret it.
Mahalia Brindle: continuing to color your hair with store-bought products is just going to kill your hair. besides, they fade in about a month or so, thus forcing you to color it again. its a vicious cycle. to get the results you want, its much more worth it to go to a salon. i just dyed my hair and it was $75. its better to spend your money on higher quality stuff when it comes to hair color....
Lilli Kochel! : if you bleach it out it will go orange, but you can always to! ne it thats what salons do if something turns orange
Jayson Brod: Shave it all off and start over.
Willetta Munhall: The hairstyle im looking for is a 'Taper Fade'If u have the # and zip code it would be great....Im here because of IKE from houstonThanks
Robin Marchione: I would highly recommend a professional. Going too light will cause your hair to break and dry out and look like straw. Plus going from black to blonde is very hard. we all naturally have a red tint to our hair and some people have more than others.. do not do this yourself. You need a color additive and many other things. It's honestly a step-by-step process.
Merlin Fleischhacker: OMG, please let a professional do this. YOU will ruin it!
Chastity Doderer: See a hairdresser, it's best to get professional advice on this.. It's a really delicate process and needs to be watched all the time, i would recommend that you ask them for a 'strand test' which is where they cut a small a! mount of your hair and bleach them with the different % of bleaches and then you will see the results of how they look also it will test to see how well your hair copes with the bleach; condition wise ect.Black hair is more likely to orange/ yellow and it could take more then one attempt to do so.. if it doesn't lift as well as you thought it was sometimes going to a lighter brown to begin with is a good ideal, having highlights or bleaching it again another time is an option, but something over processing bleach leads to hair snapping off or becoming very dry which is not good, don't push it you could end up being blond the first time but it could also take another 2-3 times....Show more
Isreal Kochheiser: Simple! all you need is a lighter! you can do this with your anus hair also!
Clare Hoard: Personaly,i luv black hair!!!But,if u want 2 dye ur hair blonde,go to the super market and buy shampoo and condidiner that dyes hair! i am only in my tween years, but i a! m a fashion sucess! the shampoo shold dye the hair! conditner should ma! ke it look more natural!
Terrell Voltz: I'm a natural red head and I cut 9 inches of my head and you could not even tell I cut it. I should have gave it to you to make a wig. Oh well
Jesse Japak: things like color zap never really get the color out. especially if you have been coloring your hair black, and i'm assuming you ran it through the ends more than once. this deposits way too much pigment into your hair.when you dyed it again, the developer reacted with the black color molecules that were left over in your hair, and "re-developed" them. this is why your hair turned black.at this point, because you have roots, it's going to be a pain in the butt. you can bleach your hair out (not the roots though) with a mild bleach. oil bleach would work best, with a very low volume peroxide (10 volume the most) when you have reached the stage you want (reddish orange) rinse it, and then rub a little 10 volume developer through the ends. if it turns dark, you stil! l have leftover pigment in your hair from dying it dark.or you can save yourself time, and frustration and ultimately money in the long run and let a professional colorist handle it....Show more
Gertrude Darke: if you bleach your hair even it you dont like it get the color you want and dye it after you bleach it
Darrel Stele: Basically, I have been dying my hair black/ dark brown to blend my roots and lengths for a month of 2 with semi permanent dyes. I really want it to be a rich auburn color.A few months ago I did use a product like color zap, and when I went to reapply a light brown/ dark blonde color it just turned black and fried the ends of my hair. I cut off the dead fried stuff, but the shafts of my hair seem to be very resistant to being any color but black lately. My 2 inches of roots however, seem to be ok with it. I am afraid that I do not have the patience to grow out my hair, nor the funds to go to a salon. I really just need a change, and I need ! help to do it....Show more
Iris Shawcroft: I have curly hair can ! any one help me ? Recently i get a haircut which is multi layer but still my hair doesn't look good.I don't know how to care curly hair. Marion Wieboldt: Trust me, I have been doing hair for a long time.. if you want it to turn out right have a professional do it!! Especially if you have put black dye in your hair. Unless you have knowledge of doing hair you won't know what toners, and products to use and will end up having to double process your hair which will lead to LOTS ! of damage. Plus, the hair dyes they use at salons are much safer for your hair. It can work, it may have to be done a few different times, but, eventually a professional will be able to get it to look however you want it....Show more
Stevie Goldey: Go to the hair dresser and go back to your natural colour or a little darker. I would go for a heavy fringe I have one and i love it, it frames my face.
Alisa Kaleiwahea: DONT BLEACH YOUR HAIR. iv been going off and on red and black for years.. even copper and bright red shades.. go to a beauty supply store . every city and major town city should have one. if not find out where.. they should have hair dyes that are for dark hair only.. which is super great for black hair. and if u have different color roots then don't put so much of the dye in that area.
Bryant Pillitteri: 678903
Esmeralda Pigram: Hi hun, I'm a hairdresser, Okay for starters, know the risks, breakage, dryness, ect. Depending on how lig! ht its going to break. Go no lighter then a level 7 or you WILL NOT hav! e hair to love. I'm sorry its life sweetie. I've been in your shoes, and Ive done it and I'm glad its grown out, because the dry mop on my head was gross.
Patrick Bitsui: That will take a very long time.. you might have to foil it alot.. to get it lighter.. then when its quite a few shades lighter.. dye it..
Ewa Homrich: Get it professionally done and use a toner to reduce the orange/yellow look because yes you will get it.
Thurman Buege: i think you're going to have to bleach it out first. its going to damage your hair severely though. you can also get the stuff that strips the color out of your hair then try and dye it without bleaching i recommend that way more than getting it bleached i've made the mistake of bleaching my hair and the hair breaks falls out and is insanely nappy.
Vickie Clampett: I have blonde hair at the moment, I'm getting really bored of it and want tocut it and color it. I put a picture here so yo can see what it looks like at! the moment.any idea?[IMG]http://i692.photobucket.com/albums/vv289/jak-attak......Show more
