Clinton Quant: any of the recognised brands are fine - I'd avoid the chinese makes though. No one can give you any more detailed advice than that without a lot more information ie type of boat, anticipated useage, budget, location etc
Mohamed Szollosi: The only reason boat manufacturers recommend certain types of motors is because they have partnerships. Because of experience I would say go with an Evinrude. I know many people who have them and are quite pleased with what they have to offer. I had a friend who bought a brand new Yamaha 9.9hp and it wouldn't start for him at the end of the season when even my beaten up Chrysler( obsolete) ran good. I also know people with Honda outboards that required a $1000 part after very limited use and they regret buying it. Now we come to Mercury which all outboards 40hp and below are made in Japan, 40 up to 200 are made in China and anything bigger is made in Fond Du Lac Wisconsin. I helped a friend hook up a brand new Evinrude! 90hp e-tec and it was so quiet all you heard was the cooling hitting the lake at idle. It had plenty of power and was easy on fuel. Knew another guy who bought a 25hp Evinrude E-tec and it could outrun a 35 hp....Show more
Laveta Fathy: I am looking for Outboards Engine
Lia Argall: You need to match the engine to the boat . Most boat manufacturers will recommend a make and type of engine for their design . Without knowing what boat it is it could be anything .
Wilfredo Muldoon: There are not many 'bad' choices these days whatever you choose go for value (feature to price), even the Tohatsu's have a great reputation.
Shaunta Paap: Yamaha, Mercury, Suzuki, Honda, all good.
