Mitsuko Manne: If the wood is bare then apply Teak oil as directed on the container. I always give three coats and reapply once a year. Do not put waxes or any other finish on the furniture durring the year. Wash the furniture down with warm, soapy water once or twice a year and try to position it so that it has some cover - you need to keep it in a position where it has some protection from rain (if possible) but has a good flow of air. Avoid allowing the wood to be in contact with soil or grass as this will cause the feet of the furniture to rot extremly quickly - site on stone/concrete or put the feet on pieces of impervious material. If the wood has some form of factory finish then you should either follow the recomendations supplied or first strip the wood and then proceed as above....Show more
Anibal Katayama: Nicky,A lot depends upon where you live. Where we live (near Seattle) we have to treat our wood products with water staving treatments, and protect agai! nst mold. People in AZ have to prevent drying.I'd recommend going to a place like Lowe's or Home Depot and talk to an 'expert' who knows oak, and products for your area. You'll want to avoid linseed oil based products if you can, so look for stuff with cedar or tung oil."Ranger"...Show more
