Organic chemistry optical purity calculation.. please help if you can?

Dannie Briseno: "specific rotation [α] is defined as the observed angle of optical rotation α when plane-polarized light is passed through a sample with a path length of 10-cm and a sample concentration of 1 gram per 1 mL."In the question asked here, the concentration is 1 gram per 20 mL, so you expect an optical rotation of -50˚/20 = -2.5˚ - which is what you observe.
