Jose Calaycay: A basic cell phone plan is usually around $30/month. Unlimited texting is going to ring you about $15/month, maybe closer to $20. You also will have to have your mom or dad get the plan for you unless you are emancipated and have credit for some reason. If you don't have any credit and your parents don't approve of getting you a cell phone, you're going to have to get a pay-as-you-go phone, which you can get from Target or Wal Mart. You may not be able to get the "coolest" cell phone with that, but if you want to talk to your friends and text, it's the best way to go....Show more

Prepaid and has texting plans for as little as $10 per month. Stop by your local walmart and pick one up for $30 with a $30 refill card, and try that for a month. As long as you dont make or receive any voice calls, including voice mail.
