Study abroad or self-directed travel?

Joni Ziak: $2000 isn't going to be nearly enough. A round trip flight to Europe will cost that much alone, not including finding a place to stay, sightseeing, and transportation within the country. The bonus of doing an exchange program is that you pay for the cost of your local tuition and the program takes care of your transportation. I suggest you do a study abroad program in order to keep costs down. Plus, by taking classes, you will be better integrated into the culture, more than you can do while traveling on your own....Show more

Ira Porietis: Its the only time you will really be able to study abroad in this way but it is not the only time you will ever be able to backpack. So if you think of it like that then you should do the one which is less likely to happen again - therefore the study option.Reasons for study option...1) Studying overseas is a really interesting way to get an insider view of the country and how people there 'tick' and the feelings an! d dreams and aspirations of the young people who live there - the future of that country. You will also gain an idea of how a country wants their citizens to 'perform' and be - do they encourage individuals? or are they a nation which sees people as a whole? etc. That kind of insight is of huge interest and value. You start reflecting on your own country and the other perspective of education it is really interesting and eye opening.2)You have not travelled much yet so a safe and secure intro to travel is kind of cool.3) You will make contacts and friends and meet inspirational people who you can develop genuine friendships with as you will be spending enough time there and also make good contacts and gain good advice for future travel plans - just think of all the people you will then be able to fly back and visit.4) Back packing sounds great but it can also be done at a later date - this kind of study option in this particular way wont probably be open to you another time! .Just some thoughtsGood Luck - whatever you decide to do :)...! Susan Rambo: Of the two, the only respectable college is Seville. Cadiz is a unload. ok it has a coastline regardless of the incontrovertible fact that it incredibly is fairly 0.33 international down there and somewhat tough. no longer the region to choose for language instructions except you % an accessory considered with the help of Spaniards as ordinary. So pass to Sevilla!

Caroyln Ebach: No I meant save that extra 2,000 dollars and use it for extra travel instead of taking a class I don't need now that Im done with my general university requirements. I have looked at lots of different study abroad programs but it wont fulfill the requirements I have left in my degree program. So if I did do study abroad it would seem so extraneous at this point to be in a classroom just to gain travel experience.
