The Holy Bible is merely a tool, a means for communicating God's truth to mankind.As for the question of why "primitive tribes" or those who have not heard of Jesus, there are two major reasons why they do not tear themselves apart. The first reason is sociological. People, just like animals, have the innate impulse and desire to ensure the survival of the species as well as the commun! ity they are a part of. They will join into groups for protection and ! procreation. They will form "laws" in order to help further their group. This, however, does not mean they are moral because they may still not be following God's laws.The second reason is psychological. People have an innate understanding and urge to be in communion with God. We all recognize that there must be more "out there" than can be explained on a rational, scientific level. Some groups believe(d) different forces were controlled by different beings (eg. polytheism) where as others were aware of one being as the source of all (eg. monotheism). Regardless, of one or many, these groups understood what many in our "advanced" culture deny, that is, that our actions have consequences. Therefore, they would not want to anger their deity.
