Need protein, but vegetarian?

Jorge Gerrero: beans nuts and other stuff. but you should seriously go to a dietician or you may malnourish yourself. before becoming a vegetarian go and consult your doctor first to ensure your health and safety. but if your a kid or a teen you shouldn't go vegan, because protiens are essential during your childhood and your teenage years.

Ivan Velazquez: I am a vegetarian because of how cruel the animals are treated. I believe that becoming a vegetaria/vegan for weight loss purposes puts a bad name for all other vegetarians/vegans. Why are youu a vegetarian/vegan?

Emerita Sciandra: Beans of any kind will give you protean.

Marti Declue: Beans, dairy products (if you still eat them), eggs (if you still eat them), nuts, oatmeal, peas, lentils.

Warren Kotter: BOCA PRODUCTS!!!!! avaliable at your local walmart

Alberto Kozub: The animals is my main reason. I watched meet your meat on youtube. It was horrible and made me cry! I couldn't even watch! the rest. I now that the animals were killed, but I didn't know they treated them that badly before they were killed (I was only like 9). My mom is also a vegetarian. I also did it for my health. I thought I'd be more healthy without all that meat in my diet. I live in a small town filled with farmers. So when I tell people that they freak out and I don't think some know the meaning of the word. They're like What do you want for lunch?....I'm a vegetarian so....Oh, here's some chicken fingers! Lol... And I realized things actually taste better without the meat- tacos (more spicy though), burgers, etc. Surprisingly, I don't really get made fun of for not eating meat. Just a few jokes from my friends about my "hamburger without the hamburger" but I make fun of them right back lol. I've also encouraged (not forced) other people to become vegetarians. So now I feel better about not killing animals just for food I don't need, and my health!

William Vickerman: Your dad nee! ds to get with the times. In the West, our problem is that we! get too much protein, not too little. Most Americans get about seven times as much protein as they need. You can get enough protein from whole wheat bread, oatmeal, beans, corn, peas, mushrooms, or broccoliâ€"almost every food contains protein. Junk food aside, it’s almost impossible for vegans to eat as many calories as we need for good health without getting enough protein. By contrast, too much protein is the major cause of osteoporosis and contributes to kidney failure and other diseases of affluence....Show more

Misty Vagle: mushrooms will do for they only absorb protein and nitrous. mushroom sometime reach 95% of protein. the puffball is a type of mushroom that was good with mush-potato and gravy.most of all, it have different type of mushroom so you have the freedom to chose.yeast also have protein...Show more

Delmer Pectol: PROTEIN IN LEGUMES: Garbanzo beans, Kidney beans, Lentils, Lima beans, Navy beans, Soybeans, Split peasPROTEIN IN GRAINS: Barley,! Brown rice, Buckwheat, Millet, Oatmeal, Rye, Wheat germ, Wheat, hard red, Wild riceVEGETABLE PROTEIN: Artichokes, Beets, Broccoli, Brussels sprouts, Cabbage, Cauliflower, Cucumbers, Eggplant, Green peas, Green pepper, Kale, Lettuce, Mushrooms, Mustard green, Onions, Potatoes, Spinach, Tomatoes, Turnip greens, Watercress, Yams, ZucchiniPROTEIN IN FRUITS: Apple, Banana, Cantaloupe, Grape, Grapefruit, Honeydew melon, Orange, Papaya, Peach, Pear, Pineapple, Strawberry, Tangerine, WatermelonHemp Protein PROTEIN IN NUTS AND SEEDS: Almonds, Cashews, Filberts, Hemp Seeds, Peanuts, Pumpkin seeds, Sesame seeds, Sunflower seeds, Walnuts (black)One excellent ingredient to look for is hemp seed protein. Arleen Bussing: i imagine certainly well being circumstances that preclude someone from being a healthful vegetarian are very very uncommon. i do not imagine they don't seem accessible. in case you say you won't be able to bypass vegetarian because of a clinical condition, I take that actuality at face fee. that's unlike you should justify no longer being a vegetarian besides. possibly that's what you should concentration on even as your acquaintances grant you with a confusing time: you want to commence understanding that you do not ought to justify your self. Ruthe Real: I am majoring in nutritional science and this was on my curriculum. I was just wondering what the class was about.

Ronald Moehr: I've been a vegetarian for 11 years, and i don't miss meat one bit! It wasn't hard for me to give up in the first place....now it's just second nature to me....but that's me. I've had fr! iends that have tried, but couldn't live without thier dead animal carc! ass sandwiches, fajitas, or tacos.....maybe they weren't meant for it. I don't think a true vegan/vegetarian needs "willpower," I think it should feel natural to them, like myself! Granted, eating meat grosses me out, but it's your choice. I try not to preach at anyone.....(although it seems like i am). It's just not for me!...Show more

Pasty Cobbett: I am a vegetarian because for one my stomach and digestive system really can't take the pressure of digesting meat. Also one day I was sitting beside my dog and was thinking what's the difference between eating you and eating a piece of turkey? Where do you draw the limit of right and wrong? How do you morally justify eating some animals and not others? The answer: you can't.

Booker Warlick: I am in the process of becoming a vegetarian. My whole life I grew up eating meat and animal product, but I decided to make a change. One for my own health and two because I do not support the living facilities and health ! of the animals used for meat. For my religion, animals are shed to feed the people, but I do not fully stand by that. Yes, there is life for the humans to eat, but there should not be cruelty and disgust twinned within. All life should be treated with respect, even if it is used for nurushing people, nothing deserves to be treated as chickens, pigs, cows, and other animals for meat as they are now.

Hye Caulley: I have been reading some questions and answers in this section, and see that many have to force themselves to not eat meat. Why is it so hard? If you have to force yourself, and have fallen off the bandwagon time and time again, why not just eat meat? I only eat some mean. I HATE pork. I like chicken, I will NOT eat eggs. Why would you put yourself through that? If meat sounds good, then eat it! Please no nasty answers. I am asking a serious question! Thanks!

Azzie Trembly: Dried beans (cooked), tofu and soy milk will help. There are many differe! nt kinds of proteins that you should eat. If you start craving chocola! te, you're doing something wrong.I was a veg head once many years ago. I can't do it anymore because of my health. Peanuts and nuts are also good for you. You need a really big variety of foods to sustain your health at your age.You might think going full veg is neat, but if you need protein, your body will tell you. You can cut out everything but you can still eat eggs, if you want. They are a good source of protein. Do what your body requires. Not what your brain and ego tells you to do....Show more

Troy Monsivais: I honestly just want to age better. I used to not eat meat but I got really sick. I am under doctors orders to eat a burger every once and a while. But besides that and a little fish, milk, or eggs, I am basically plant based.

Joesph Smithmyer: Basically speaking, tofu or other kinds of soy bean stuff, like roasted soy beans or soy milk, seem to be the most common. At some asian restaurants, they have edamame, which is soy beans still in the! pod and steamed, I think. Also, brown rice (rice that still has its outer layer) combined with beans makes a complete protein. If you're an ovo lacto vegetarian and still eat things with eggs and milk in them, the following list copied from the source will prove helpful. (Amino acids are what make up protein btw)Complete Proteins:MilkEggsFishPoultryRed MeatsIncomplete Proteins:Grains (low in lysine, isoleucine)Legumes (low in tryptophan, methionine)Seeds (low in lysine, isoleucine)Nuts (low in lysine, isoleucine)Vegetables (varies â€" most low in methionine, isoleucine)To obtain complete proteins combine:Grains+ Legumes(e.g. Rice and lentils, wheat and peas, bean burritos)Seed or Nuts + Legumes(e.g. garbanzo beans and sesame (hummus)Grains + Milk or Eggs(e.g. Quiche, rice and eggs, french toast, lasagna)Vegetables + Milk or Eggs(e.g. Cream soups, vegetable with eggs and cheese, omelet)...Show more

Betsey Copp: you can always just buy a daily protein supplement. Then yo! u never have to worry. :Dbut nuts, seeds, peanut butter, tofu, eggs. Th! at kind of stuff.

Lynn Hollars: I dont' find it hard not to eat meat or dairy products at all. Being a vegan is about having a healthier body and a clear conscience. Even if I did enjoy eating animal products I wouldn't as I feel that it is cruel to value my life above that of an animal. I would never kill a person so I could eat and I feel the same about animals.

Jesse Japak: "I believe that becoming a vegetarian/vegan for weight loss purposes puts a bad name for all other vegetarians/vegans. "Well that's judgmental! Why is it wrong for people to choose their diet for the health benefits it has? If anything it gives them the community a better name because they demonstrate the stereotype of the unhealthy vegetarian isn't true! It draws people to vegetarianism in a way that all other methods don't.Besides they are doing just as much for animals as any other vegetarian! Even if that isn't their reasoning. Each benefit animals in the exact same way. I think stuc! k up, high horse vegetarians who judge others are what gives vegetarians/vegans a bad name! Where do you think all those stereotypes of the dim witted holier than thou veg come from? It's that sort of attitude that gives vegetarians all the stereotypes they have to live with! And it's the dietary veggies that both disprove stereotypes and draw whole groups of people ,who otherwise would never have considered it, to vegetarianism.

Gertrude Darke: How to cook. read recipes, clean up.

Laveta Fathy: i am because i love animals and hate the fact that they are being killed just so humans can eat them. i mean really humans aren't any better than animals. yes we can learn and speak and we have feelings and thoughts but animals do too. take cows for example (my favorite animal) i see them as more than a animal. i hate to even put them in the category as an animal. my 6th grade teacher has a dairy farm. he loves his cows to the fullest! everyday before school he milks them! at 3Am. they all hav names and we've seen pics and they are just Too a! dorable!!! i also find it cruel. just because u need to lose weight its just heartbreaking.

Lue Podewils: I totally agree with you,if it was hard for me to give up meat and dairy then i wouldn't be vegan,i have never been tempted to eat those things since being vegan.you shouldn't live your life depriving yourself of something you like.

Hal Palowoda: In my experience food is just habit. The old habit is hard to break. But once the new habit is established it is not difficult to maintain. I stopped eating meat at home over 25 years ago, without any real difficulty. I continued to eat meat whenever I went out but it became increasingly disappointing. I cut it out altogether about 10 years ago. Now it's about as appealing to me as a can of dogfood. People become vegetarians for many different reasons, health, spirituality, the environment, compassion for animals, taste, fashion. They try and change their habits because they believe it will be better for them. From ! your question it appears it never occured to you that not eating meat might actually have some benefits. Are you saying people should give up their principles and simply do whatever is convenient. It's like asking why do fat people go on diets, if it is hard for them not to eat excess calories and junk food? Do you simply follow the path of least resistance in your life? Believe me, in the last 25 years I have researched the subject extensively and tried all sorts of variations myself. The scientific evidence in favor of a vegerarian diet is overwhelming, both from a health and environmental point of view. Meat eating does more damage to the environment than all the other causes put together, including industrial pollution. Calorie for calorie, it takes four times the area of land to feed a meat eater....Show more

Hermina Ketring: I didn't find it hard to give up meat and I've never in 20 years found it hard to stay vegetarian. But even if it was a little hard sometimes, it would be worth it to stick to my principles and keep doing something that's good for my health.By your logic, why would anyone put themselves through anything difficult in order to benefit their health? So what if you're a recovered alcoholic, if that beer sounds good, then drink it! So what if you're a diabetic, if that Twinkie sounds good, then eat it! So what if you're overweight, if laying on the couch chowing on potato chips sounds better than going to the gym, then do it!I'm not trying to be nasty, by the way. Just logical..! ..Show more

Ignacio Imbier: With that attitude then an obese person should just continue eating what they want and how much they want, an alcoholic should just keep drinking and smokers shouldn't bother to try to quit. As with most vegetarians, not eating meat is a matter of eating a healthy diet that does not include the eating of fat, steriods and the other growth hormones that are fed to the livestock people eat.

Gwenda Micheals: I aggree with you. I have been a vegetarian my whole life and I have never had an urge for meat, it repulses me! You should become a vegeterian for the moral purpose of the animals, and that they should not be killed for humans. If you read this study it shows that humans are not created to eat meat, instead they are created to be herbivours. http://www.celestialhealing.net/physicalveg3.htmI am personally a vegetarian because animals do have feelings and the thought of what that animal is put through to end up on a plate is disgusti! ng. Therefore I think you should become a vegetarian for the sake of th! e animals not for weight loss and other such factors....Show more

Roland Stampley: Legumes (beans, lentils) are a great source of protein. Nuts also. Soy is a legume. It is processed into tofu, veggie burgers, etc, or you can just eat them in their natural state (edamame, for example)If you eat eggs and dairy products, there's lots of protein there as well.

Wilburn Denice: Please see my source for records on stable materials of protein for vegetarians, to boot as some diverse styles of vegetarians. the rationalization some vegetarians consume fish is with regards to diverse rationalization why vegetarians do no longer consume meat. some evaluate beef to be ecologically inefficient, yet fish are extra ecologically effective. you do no longer choose protein supplementations. The protein desires for all and assorted yet a aggressive athelete variety from forty to 70 grams of protein an afternoon. verify the protein contents of a few ingredients, and you will see ! that 2 or 3 servings of beans an afternoon would be each and all of the protein you choose, notwithstanding in case you get 0 different protein. Many non-vegetarians make a huge deal out of protein, supported by way of severe merchandising from people who opt to sell you a supplement. you're extra possibly to have issues of your iron intake, yet once you look up iron-wealthy ingredients, you will see that it truly is uncomplicated to guard....Show more

Emery Blando: Because being a Vegetarian is the righteous thing to do.Leonardo Da Vinci was one "The time will come when men such as I will look upon the murder of animals as they now look on the murder of men."Albert Einstein towards the end of his life became a vegetarian "Our task must be to free ourselves . . . by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature and its beauty.""Nothing will benefit human health and increase chances of survival for life on earth as much as th! e evolution to a vegetarian diet."Albert Einstein, physicist, Nobel Pri! ze 1921Abraham Lincoln "I am in favor of animal rights as well as human rights. That is the way of a whole human being."Abraham Lincoln, 16th U.S. PresidentThe world eats dead carcasses, living by neglect and greed. Tell me, brother, what would you call an unrighteous action? (SGGS p1103) From the Sikh scripture THE GURU GRANTH SAHIB JI.

Tyree Allenbrand: Health, environment, and because it's mean as hell to eat meat. It also just makes me feel more pure, knowing my body is free of other animals, it's like a spiritual thing almost.

Renato Abatiell: you need -lots of dark green vegetables - spinach, watercress, rocket, dandelion, nettles, kale, broccolithey contain complete protein but you have to eat a lot.or combine other foods to form a complete protein like meat.legumes + grains = completelegumes + seeds = ! completelegumes = lentils, beans, chickpeas, peanuts, soya beans grains = wheat, oats, rice, buckwheatseeds = sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds.examples =beans on toasthummus (chickpeas, seseame seeds) on pitta breadpeanut butter sandwichesdhal (lentils) and ricechillie (beans) and ricesoya meat bolognaise and pastasoya milk and oatsbeans and couscousalso eggs and milk contain complete protein same as meat.raw eggs are the ultimate protein food that body builders use to build muscle....Show more

Marcellus Yoshimori: Actually being vegetarian is not that hard at all. What is hard is if you are raised to eat meat and then make the switch. Old habits die hard. But eventually you get into the swing of things. As to why people would bother to put themselves through a certain amount of difficulty concerning this issue. I would have to say because it is the right thing to do ethically, environmentally, as well as health wise. It's easy to do the wrong thing. It's ! easier to let yourself free fall than it is to struggle your way up a l! adder. Why bother climbing at all? I'll let you figure that last question out....Show more

Elmo Tervo: I have been a,vegetarian for about 12years. I have always loved animals, and when I was a kid, I made the connection. However, meat eaters dont bother me. They will eat meat regardless of my feelings. It pisses me off when people try to hide meat in my food. (my husbands grandparents even do it).

Ervin Laeger: soy products, beans, nuts, seeds for vegetablescheck www.nutritiondata.com for nutrition content of foodslook up sites for recipes and vegetarian needs on Yahoo

Veta Slicker: It all depends why a person who is used to eating meat made the conscious choice to become a vegetarian. My choice was easy as I never liked meat anyway and my choice to not eat meat is religious. Now it is the last thing on my mind.People who give up meat for other reasons may find the going tough because they don't have the conviction to stop thinking about meat. However, at th! e end of the day, just the fact that they are not supporting the meat industry is all that matters....Show more
